Knitterstone Clee 1749 feet

1749 feet is the height of Titterstone Clee Hill in South Shropshire, we honoured the Women of the Hill, past or present, by making a very, very long “scarf” of 12″ knitted and crocheted squares.  Each one is dedicated to a woman of Titterstone Clee. Those who live and work on the Hill, or those who just love the Hill and the same goes for the Women of the past and of course the Future!

The Iron Age enclosure at the top of Titterstone Clee is the largest in the West Midlands, but due to quarrying, it now has 2 massive gaps in the wall.

When the “Giants’ scarf” was finished, it was taken up to the Hill and draped across those gaps, to join up the enclosure wall for the first time in over 150 years.

The scarf was exhibited at Ludlow Library, (thank you very much for having us!) and is now being made into blankets.  Some will be sold, to raise funds for local charities, and others will be given to causes such as Womens Aid, and local care homes. We also hope to team up with SIBOL http://www.sunshineinternationalblanketsoflove.blogspot.co.uk as they are a project that makes and distributes fabulous blankets to care homes across the UK.
